The Bar Harbor Garden Cluband Acadia National Park cooperate to maintain and preserve
12 areas of wild gardens that reflect typical habitats
found on Mount Desert Island. Glacial accidents left
this area with flora of both the cold north and the
warm south. Mixed woods, heath, beach, marsh, meadow,
bog, and bird thicket represent 7 of the 12 habitats.
Two annual plant sales in Bar Harbor help support the
park.

Adkins Arborteum is a 400-acre native garden and preserve
on Maryland's Eastern Shore that promotes the conservation
of the native planst of the Delmarva Peninsula. Four
miles of paths lead visitors thorugh native plant gardens,
a rich bottomland forest and meadows. Programs in horticulture,
ecology, natural history, folklore, and arts and crafts
are offered for all ages.

An organization dedicated to the study and preservation
of the native flora of New England. The New England
Wildflower Society owns and operates the Garden in the
Woods as its 45-acre botanical garden and headquarters.
The Society has conserved native plants since 1900 and
engages in extensive conservation advocacy, habitat
preservation, education and research. The society also
monitors the survival of hundreds of rare plants in
the wild, and offers publications about propagating
native plants. Sells plants and seeds.
